Structural characterization by means of Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction has been carried out on a set of iron acicular particles used as magnetic recording media. The results indicate that the structure of the outer layer is an oxide/ oxyhydroxide species correlated to the degree of moisture present in the material. The structural data are discussed in relation to the magnetic properties of the samples. © 1993.

Abstract
Structural characterization by means of Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction has been carried out on a set of iron acicular particles used as magnetic recording media. The results indicate that the structure of the outer layer is an oxide/ oxyhydroxide species correlated to the degree of moisture present in the material. The structural data are discussed in relation to the magnetic properties of the samples. © 1993.File in questo prodotto:
