The structural characterization and the electrochemical behaviour of a series of iron-based amorphous alloys with variable Ni and Mo content were investigated. Ni content in Fe-xNi-4Mo-13B enhanced the corrosion resistance of these metallic glasses in acid, neutral and alkaline media. Mo content (from 4 to 8.5%) increased the corrosion resistance of Fe-20Ni-xMo-13B metallic glasses only in alkaline media. The alloys are in the active state in acid or neutral environments, while are passive in alkaline environments. A correlation has been found between short range order in the alloys of the Fe-Ni-Mo-B type, of similar chemical composition, and their electrochemical behaviour.

Abstract
The structural characterization and the electrochemical behaviour of a series of iron-based amorphous alloys with variable Ni and Mo content were investigated. Ni content in Fe-xNi-4Mo-13B enhanced the corrosion resistance of these metallic glasses in acid, neutral and alkaline media. Mo content (from 4 to 8.5%) increased the corrosion resistance of Fe-20Ni-xMo-13B metallic glasses only in alkaline media. The alloys are in the active state in acid or neutral environments, while are passive in alkaline environments. A correlation has been found between short range order in the alloys of the Fe-Ni-Mo-B type, of similar chemical composition, and their electrochemical behaviour.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
