This essay contains an analysis of the new rules on ‘simplified’ withdrawal from contracts concluded by consumers with traders via online interfaces, as set out in Article 54-bis of the Consumer Code, which will come into force on 19 June 2026. The Author examines the scope of application of the new provision, the issues of interpretation and application raised by its wording, the impact that the new rules are set to have on the organisation of online interfaces through which goods or services are offered to consumers, and finally the legal consequences, both in private and public law, of breaching the new rules of con-duct laid down by the provision, including through a systematic coordination of the provision with the general rules applicable to B2C di-stance contracts.
