This paper outlines the main features of the Albertus University of Königsberg in the time of Immanuel Kant. It first outlines the situation of German-speaking universities in the eighteenth century and relations between the Albertina and other Prussian universities. The paper aims to explore the relationship between the various academic disciplines in German-speaking university faculties during the Enlightenment and to show how the Albertina, in particular, was committed to innovation, especially in the humanities. Starting from historical presuppositions, it then focuses on Kant’s idea of the university as a laboratory for finding methods to develop a new ideal of human education that would contribute to realising humanity’s moral vocation. Combining a speculative and historical perspective, the paper intertwines an account of academic events with more distinctly theoretical aspects, thus aiming to interpret events surrounding the Albertina as an exemplary case for the understanding of the role of the faculties of philosophy and humanistic studies during the Enlightenment.

Abstract
Combining a speculative and historical perspective, the paper intertwines an account of academic events with more distinctly theoretical aspects, thus aiming to interpret events surrounding the Albertina as an exemplary case for the understanding of the role of the faculties of philosophy and humanistic studies during the Enlightenment.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
