Spazio Fragile. Un tool di indirizzo progettuale per la realizzazione di architetture ad uso sociale

The research addresses the need to design social architecture capable of welcoming fragile subjects, ensuring comfort and functionality where current regulations only partially respond to users’ needs. Starting from the case of Opera Don Calabria, an active institution in several countries with numerous facilities for education, disability support, migrants and other vulnerable groups, the study develops a design tool based on essential requirement classes. Through data collection, case studies, and questionnaires involving operators in different Italian cities, the analysis highlights recurrent criticalities of existing buildings and the necessity of simplified design approaches. The outcome is a set of meta-design matrices and project sheets that can guide administrators and practitioners in requalifying or designing social use buildings, even with limited resources, by ensuring accessible, functional, and inclusive spaces.
