The entrenched field of Mestre, with Fort Marghera at its centre, constitutes a historical and testimonial heritage almost unique in Italy. At the end of 20th century was purchased by the Municipality of Venice and has been at the centre of many events which have also called into question the public enjoyment of this asset. These partly compromised the preservation of the historical-architectural values, of the environmental and landscape aspects that the military uses had protected.
