Reviewing his planner experience, Giovanni Astengo has repeatedly described his first professional assignment in Assisi as 'unexpected' and intense 'adventure' that became the place where he gives shape to the general, scientific principles of his plan. Assisi was the first, fundamental opportunity to put into practice what he had elaborated since the end of the war, with his participation in the national urban planning debate, his teaching at IUAV, his work into the magazine Urbanistica.
