This study evaluated the relationship between CT-detected mucus plugs and chronic bronchitis in COPD using clinical, SGRQ, and CAT definitions. Although chronic bronchitis was common, agreement between definitions was low, and its prevalence did not differ between patients with and without mucus plugs. These findings indicate that mucus plugs and chronic bronchitis are dissociable features of COPD, supporting the concept that they represent distinct pathological components of the disease.

Abstract
This study evaluated the relationship between CT-detected mucus plugs and chronic bronchitis in COPD using clinical, SGRQ, and CAT definitions. Although chronic bronchitis was common, agreement between definitions was low, and its prevalence did not differ between patients with and without mucus plugs. These findings indicate that mucus plugs and chronic bronchitis are dissociable features of COPD, supporting the concept that they represent distinct pathological components of the disease.File in questo prodotto:
