The Europan 12 “Adaptable City – Stadt im Wandel” exhibition at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin was held as part of the German Forum of Results on 4 July 2014. It presented the German outcomes of Europan 12 as a research-through-design inquiry into how cities can adapt over time. Curated by Europan Deutschland, the show framed proposals as territorial hypotheses and strategic visions rather than fixed masterplans. The exhibition sat within the wider Europan 12 network of 16 European countries and 51 sites, positioning Germany inside a shared experimental platform. For the German context, it showcased the five prize-winning projects for the national sites, each addressing transformation in housing, reuse, and urban rights. Boards, models, and catalog materials were displayed as design evidence to explore spatial, social, and ecological adaptability. Public presentations and debates treated the exhibition as an open laboratory, connecting young European teams with planners and researchers. Three guiding research themes structured the discussion: Habitation, Conversion, and Right to the City. Site representatives and winning teams debated implementation pathways, underlining Europan’s bridge between experimental design and municipal policy. Among the winners, “Mannheim’s Connection” by Alessandro delli Ponti and Ilaria Novielli was presented with the Municipality of Mannheim as a concrete, research-led vision for the site.

Abstract
Among the winners, “Mannheim’s Connection” by Alessandro delli Ponti and Ilaria Novielli was presented with the Municipality of Mannheim as a concrete, research-led vision for the site.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
