The nineth edition of the “Domus Restoration and Conservation” ArchitecturaI Restoration Award, sponsored by Fassa Bortolo and promoted by the Department of Architecture of the University of Ferrara, this year was completely dedicated to the academic field, evaluating the results of bachelor’s degree, PhD, Master's Degree or Specialization theses. More than one hundred proposals were evaluated by the Commission, established for the 2020-2021 period, composed by Riccardo Dalla Negra (President), full professor of Architectural Restoration, Director of the research centre Labo.R.A. Architecture Restoration Workshop at the Department of Architecture of the University of Ferrara, Eva Coïsson, full professor of Architectural Restoration of the University of Parma, Luca Rinaldi, Soprintendente Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio for Bergamo and Brescia, Cristina González-Longo, Department of Architecture at University of Strathclyde - Glasgow, and Marcello Balzani, full professor, Director of DIAPReM Centre of the University of Ferrara and Scientific Coordinator of the Laboratory TekneHub, Technopole of the University of Ferrara. The schools and teaching methods were compared, always supported by a theoretical thought that emerges from the design choices that undergraduates, doctoral and post-graduates’ students have conceived to defend the work in front of their specific commissions. The Jury did not examine the final grades but only the followed design process, as well as the fact-finding methods of cognitive approach. More and more refined are the graphic elaborations that help not only to comprehensively understand the real state of conservation of the architectures, but also the prefigured design outcome. An excellent encouragement for the future of the profession for which we hope to see the same rigor of approach. It was part of this competition also the second edition of the Special Prize “Domus Restoration and Conservation - Digital BIM Technologies” for the enhancement of those thesis paths developed through the use of methodologies, tools, protocols, systems, etc. related to BIM. A very useful window from which it is possible to figure out the different insights on the subject and the consequent methods proposed in several exercises. All the nominations were assessed by unanimous judgment through a careful work of debate between the jury member by comparing the numerous theses in accordance with the criteria of the 2022 Call for Applications: «architectural restorations projects that have been able to consciously interpret the principles of conservation [...] also by resorting to contemporary forms of expression».

Abstract
All the nominations were assessed by unanimous judgment through a careful work of debate between the jury member by comparing the numerous theses in accordance with the criteria of the 2022 Call for Applications: «architectural restorations projects that have been able to consciously interpret the principles of conservation [...] also by resorting to contemporary forms of expression».| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
