Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by an exacerbated inflammation response, leading to tissue damage and functional disability. Zinc (Zn) is a trace element crucial for immune cell function. Low serum levels of Zn are able to increase systemic inflammation and pro-inflammatory cytokines, which exacerbate RA activity (1). The zinc transporter ZNT6 is encoded by SLC30A6 (2p22.3) and regulates Zn at the cellular level.

Abstract
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by an exacerbated inflammation response, leading to tissue damage and functional disability. Zinc (Zn) is a trace element crucial for immune cell function. Low serum levels of Zn are able to increase systemic inflammation and pro-inflammatory cytokines, which exacerbate RA activity (1). The zinc transporter ZNT6 is encoded by SLC30A6 (2p22.3) and regulates Zn at the cellular level.File in questo prodotto:
