The article reports on the outcomes of a participatory process between Public Administration, School and University to propose strategies for architectural, energy and environmental redevelopment of a historic complex. The process started from the ideas and proposals for the re-functionalization of Palazzo Marescalchi in Malalbergo elaborated by the children and teachers of the schools involved in the participatory process, which were then incorporated into the design research of the Department of Architecture of the University of Ferrara. The proposed meta-design approach starts from a new functional program for the interior, defined on the needs expressed by the local community, and the possibility of creating new relationships between the interior of the courtyard and the square facing the building. The design action takes shape, therefore, through the logic of “grafting,” thanks to the addition of an “installation” that creates new paths at different heights and the possibility of reconfiguring the courtyard in multiple possible scenarios.

Abstract
The design action takes shape, therefore, through the logic of “grafting,” thanks to the addition of an “installation” that creates new paths at different heights and the possibility of reconfiguring the courtyard in multiple possible scenarios.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
