Integrated sustainable development plans are important long-term planning tools for cities of all sizes. Balancing the losses and gains of natural and human resources has been a major challenge for the Municipality of Sappada – IT. With the main objective of satisfying local tourist demand and reducing the resident population rate, the University of Ferrara through the “Consorzio Futuro in Ricerca” in partnership with the Municipality of Sappada and the local community, has been working for the last 2 years on the Plan of Sappada Sustainable Development. 11 main themes were listed by Municipality for carrying out analyses and proposals for sustainable urban development for the next 20 years.
