The relationship between design and pedagogical innovation and the evolution of the educational design approaches is the aim of this article. The contribution illustrates the historical evolution according to different research lines: the innovation of teaching methodologies developed in the field of applied arts and design; the contribution offered by design to the conception and development of teaching and psycho-pedagogical aids and to the design of spaces, furnishings and communication tools dedicated to educational activities; the contribution of design to the development of proposals capable of facilitating the relationship methods (setting), or of improving the contexts or the "atmospheres" of learning.
L'articolo illustra l'evoluzione del concetto di educational design e il rapporto tra design e innovazione pedagogica secondo diverse direttrici di ricerca: l’innovazione delle metodologie d’insegnamento elaborate nel campo delle arti applicate e del design; il contributo offerto dal design alla concezione e messa a punto di ausili didattici e psicopedagogici e alla progettazione di spazi, arredi e strumenti comunicativi dedicati alle attività educative; l’apporto del design all’elaborazione di proposte in grado di agevolare le modalità di relazione (setting), o di migliorare i contesti o le “atmosfere” di apprendimento.
