An overlook on the spaces of ‘home theater’ in Ferrara noble’s palaces · The significant role of Ferrara in Renaissance theater dates back to the public representations organized by Duke Ercole I in 1486 and steadily evolves throughout the following century with performances held in noble palaces. This study aims to analyze the utilization of spaces not originally intended for theater, referred to here as ‘home theater’, by synthesizing both architectural and archival data. This approach is made possible by a thorough understanding of the building transformation process, enabling the identification of these spaces.
