The elderly condition is the latest, among the “many faces” of vulnerability, to have received attention from the law. The prominence of demographic and personal aging has led to questions about the legal status of the elderly and the most appropriate ways to protect them. After a preliminary framing of the current contemporary legal-philosophical debate concerning vulnerability, the contribution reflects on the relationship between vulnerability to old age. It also addresses some elements that should be taken into consideration in order to properely recognize their subjectivity and protect their rights.
