Four seaweeds (Ulva rigida, Gracilaria gracilis, Gracilariopsis longissima and Gracilaria vermiculophylla) were monitored from May to October to assess the growth rates and the biomass production in two eutrophic areas of the Venice lagoon. The growth patterns of the four species displayed a similar behaviour during the year: Ulva grew fastest (up to 17% day -1 ), followed by Gracilariopsis and G. gracilis in the early summer, while G. vermiculophylla, grew slower, mainly in spring.

Abstract
Four seaweeds (Ulva rigida, Gracilaria gracilis, Gracilariopsis longissima and Gracilaria vermiculophylla) were monitored from May to October to assess the growth rates and the biomass production in two eutrophic areas of the Venice lagoon. The growth patterns of the four species displayed a similar behaviour during the year: Ulva grew fastest (up to 17% day -1 ), followed by Gracilariopsis and G. gracilis in the early summer, while G. vermiculophylla, grew slower, mainly in spring.File in questo prodotto:
