The aim of this paper is to explain the way in which the philosophical discussion after Kant focused on the subject of a unified rational and sensible being living in a united, single human world. By analysing Feder’s and Werdermann’s work on moral philosophy, I indicate the joint use of empirical and transcendental elements in order to illuminate the theory of ‘the whole human being’.
