Ercole Corazzi (1673- 1726), a leading igure in the eighteenth century Italian mathematical milieu, held the chair of Algebra at Bologna University from 1710 on and taught military architecture in the new Institute of Science founded by Luigi Ferdinando Marsili. In 1720, he was summoned by Vittorio Amedo II to work on the important reform of the University of Turin. Many unedited works by Corazzi from various Italian libraries have been the subject of our study, which concludes with an appendix of his published works and a list of his manuscripts preserved in the University of Bologna, as well as an overview of his correspondence.
Ercole Corazzi (1673-1726), figura di rilievo dell’ambiente matematico italiano nel primo Settecento, ricoprì dal 1710 la cattedra di Algebra all’Università di Bologna e insegnò architettura militare nel nuovo Istituto di scienze fondato da Luigi Ferdinando Marsili. Fu poi chiamato, nel 1720, da Vittorio Amedo II nell’ambito dell’importante riforma dell’Università di Torino. Sono stati presi in esame numerosi materiali inediti di Corazzi presenti in diverse biblioteche italiane. Completa la trattazione un’appendice con le sue opere a stampa e un elenco dei suoi manoscritti conservati presso la Biblioteca Universitaria di Bologna, nonché una ricognizione della sua corrispondenza.
