Many recent studies focus on different forms of visual deceptions made by images on the beholder. This essay addresses some issues related to the notion of illusion, in order to verify the dynamics of the patterns that act on perception under certain conditions. The hypothesis is that they create a series of evaluation compromises with the images from which they originate, in order to aesthetically recover that loss of certainties they produce on a noetic level. Given these premises, hermeneutics and ambivalent values that preside over the most recent philosophies of the image – oscillating between a conception of representation as an illusory vision or a truthful fiction – have been considered.

Abstract
Many recent studies focus on different forms of visual deceptions made by images on the beholder. This essay addresses some issues related to the notion of illusion, in order to verify the dynamics of the patterns that act on perception under certain conditions. The hypothesis is that they create a series of evaluation compromises with the images from which they originate, in order to aesthetically recover that loss of certainties they produce on a noetic level. Given these premises, hermeneutics and ambivalent values that preside over the most recent philosophies of the image – oscillating between a conception of representation as an illusory vision or a truthful fiction – have been considered.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
