The aims of this paper – focused in the field of the cultural value and significance of the product design – is to investigate the relationships that it is possible to establish between archival research, curatorial project and exhibition of objects and documentary findings, as a practice of enhancing the history and the culture of the project. After a preliminary exam of some critical issues now existing in design exhibitions (about their ability to bring out the cultural role of design and its history), the contribution illustrates the curatorial project of the exhibition dedicated to the design of the Castiglioni brothers in Pordenone (2019). This part aims to verify the role that historical research, organization, narration, and interpretation can have as design expedients used in 'mediation' experiences, to facilitate the understanding of design culture.

Abstract
The aims of this paper – focused in the field of the cultural value and significance of the product design – is to investigate the relationships that it is possible to establish between archival research, curatorial project and exhibition of objects and documentary findings, as a practice of enhancing the history and the culture of the project. After a preliminary exam of some critical issues now existing in design exhibitions (about their ability to bring out the cultural role of design and its history), the contribution illustrates the curatorial project of the exhibition dedicated to the design of the Castiglioni brothers in Pordenone (2019). This part aims to verify the role that historical research, organization, narration, and interpretation can have as design expedients used in 'mediation' experiences, to facilitate the understanding of design culture.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
