The projects focuses on biomarkers sensitive to changes of oxygen availability, microRNAs and fetal haemoglobin, to evaluate their potential inclusion in the Athlete’s Biological Passport for detecting autologous blood transfusion. The project aims to determine the changes of these molecular markers after blood withdrawal and blood re-infusion, to determine their reproducibility with respect to age, sex training, exercise and altitude, to develop suitable anti-doping protocols.
