Abstract
Prevention is the word now. Everyone is talking and dreaming about prevention. Governments commit to any kind of prevention from terrorist attacks to global warming, from poverty to road accidents or drug abuse which, just in the USA, cause at least six million deaths per year, which is more than the total number of casualties in the Vietnam war! Of course, prevention is important for medicine. It is understood that 70–80% of diseases may be prevented.1 The elimination of tobacco smoking, harmful use of alcohol, and the adoption of healthier diets may have a positive impact on cancer and on cardiovascular (CV) and cerebrovascular diseases, the global epidemics of today. Regular exercise reduces the risks of osteoporosis, muscular wasting, and accidental injuries, while contributing to prevention of the above-mentioned epidemics.2,3I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
