In recent years, thanks to the use of technologies to support increasingly high computational costs in ever shorter time, the results of numerical simulations have become more reliable and makes our CFD a reliable tool used in industrial design. This thesis has been developed and validated a methodology for integrated 1D/3D design turbomachinery operating centrifugal flow, based on the use of CFD simulations. These are used for the first partial analysis of the different geometries and simplified 1D dimensioned criteria and then to 3D-depth analysis of the complete model. In this way one can choose in a short time the partial model better and in the next step of the design to increase the performance parameters by optimizing the geometry. Abstract

The developed methodology was then applied to two operating turbomachines: a laboratory pump low pressure centrifugal fan and a two-stage burners for industrial high power.
