Cerebral sinus venous thrombosis with parenchymal infarcts in a newborn with severe haemophilia A and subdural haematomas

The case we report has three peculiar aspects leading us to the following considerations: 1 This is the first reported case of cerebral SVT in a haemophilic patient, either in the presence or absence of cerebral haemorrhage, unrelated to therapy or presence of CVC. 2 A complete recanalization of the venous sinuses without heparin administration was observed, probably favoured by the underlying disease. 3 MRI confirms to be the examination of choice in the diagnosis of cerebral vascular diseases and in the past the performance of CT alone in case of cerebral haemorrhage in haemophiliacs may have underdiagnosed the association with cerebral venous thromboses.
