Queste note riguardano la traduzione dei Caratteri di Teofrasto da parte di Willibald Pirckheimer, amico e consigliere di Albrecht Dürer, a cui li dedica nel 1527, suggerendogli di illustrarli. A tal proposito ho ripercorso la storia della teoria delle proporzioni, della fisiognomica, dei caratteri e degli ‘affetti’ da Leon Battista Alberti a Gian Paolo Lomazzo per indicare il complicato intreccio delle proporzioni matematiche ai moti dell’anima che Dürer espone e rappresenta nei trattati e nei suoi autoritratti.

Abstract
These notes concern the translation of Theophrastus' Characters by Willibald Pirckheimer, a friend and advisor of Albrecht Durer, to whom he dedicated the work in 1527, suggesting that he might wish to illustrate it.
