While known for its high critical impact, until very recently Feminist Theory has not really paid attention to individuals with disabilities in general, and to women with disabilities in particular. The paper aims at analysing some similarities and differences between the regimes of oppression experienced both by women and persons with disabilities, and at investigating the reasons that are likely to explain Feminism’s silence about disability. Through the “lenses” of the critical current known as Feminist Disability Studies (FDS), the paper examines the problems of justice related to the living experience of women with disabilities, arguing for the need to critically engage with FDS, in order to give public recognition to the existence of women with disabilities.
