In a series of 33 patients with acute stroke, the walking ability outcome, predicted in the acute phase of rehabilitation, was found to be related to the results of objective measurement scales (Fritz-Werner modified by Mathews, Fugl-Meyer modified by Lindmark and Hamrin, and Barthel Index). The prognosis of walking ability at discharge was estimated just as accurately using the results of three variables of Fugl-Meyer test (mobility, balance and tactile sensibility) as when using the entire set of tests. A minimum set of variables obtained from the three scales allows a fairly accurate classification of the patient's disability through a cluster analysis. These findings support the usefulness of an objective method of classification and prediction of the walking ability outcome in order to plan and prioritise the patient's management and treatment.

Abstract
These findings support the usefulness of an objective method of classification and prediction of the walking ability outcome in order to plan and prioritise the patient's management and treatment.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
