The biostratigraphic and sedimentological study of the Paleogene terrains outcropping in southern Trentino, between the valleys of Adige and Sarca, reveals abrupt and distinct facies changes, documenting a pronounced paleomorphology. The very shallow, elongated, central ridge, characterized by shallow-water carbonates was bounded westward by a deep basin where hemipelagic sediments were accumulating. The eastern basin was instead characterized by a shallowing upward succession related to the lateral progradation of the Torbole-Nago platform. Uplift of this elongated structural high is probably related to Eocene strike-slip tectonics, inheriting a Late Cretaceous NNE-SSW striking structural grain.-from English summary

Abstract
The biostratigraphic and sedimentological study of the Paleogene terrains outcropping in southern Trentino, between the valleys of Adige and Sarca, reveals abrupt and distinct facies changes, documenting a pronounced paleomorphology. The very shallow, elongated, central ridge, characterized by shallow-water carbonates was bounded westward by a deep basin where hemipelagic sediments were accumulating. The eastern basin was instead characterized by a shallowing upward succession related to the lateral progradation of the Torbole-Nago platform. Uplift of this elongated structural high is probably related to Eocene strike-slip tectonics, inheriting a Late Cretaceous NNE-SSW striking structural grain.-from English summaryI documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
