Resonance Raman spectra were measured for a series of Os, Ru, and Re dinuclear and trinuclear complexes in resonance with their low-energy metal-to-metal or intervalence transfer absorption band. The spectra typically demonstrate a series of enhanced low-wavenumber Raman bands due to metal-ligand modes along with enhancement of nu (CN) bands. The spectra also demonstrate low wavenumber polypyridine bands which gain enhancement from the intervalence transfer transition. One notable exception for this enhancement pattern is [(bpy)(2)Ru(II) ((CN)RU(III)(NH(3))(5))(2)](6+) (where bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine) which demonstrates enhanced low-wavenumber bands, but no enhancement of the Raman band of the bridging cyanides.

Abstract
Resonance Raman spectra were measured for a series of Os, Ru, and Re dinuclear and trinuclear complexes in resonance with their low-energy metal-to-metal or intervalence transfer absorption band. The spectra typically demonstrate a series of enhanced low-wavenumber Raman bands due to metal-ligand modes along with enhancement of nu (CN) bands. The spectra also demonstrate low wavenumber polypyridine bands which gain enhancement from the intervalence transfer transition. One notable exception for this enhancement pattern is [(bpy)(2)Ru(II) ((CN)RU(III)(NH(3))(5))(2)](6+) (where bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine) which demonstrates enhanced low-wavenumber bands, but no enhancement of the Raman band of the bridging cyanides.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
