Two methods were used to reproduce the conditions set up in the course of serious, protracted tissue anoxia of a major muscle district: complete interruption of the arterial flow in the experimental animal; introduction of a known, highly pathological quantity of My in pH 7.3 buffer solution by means of a peristaltic pump at 60-80 ml/min through a carbon filter coated with a 3-5 μ thick polyester filter for about 1 hr. This method serves to test the efficacy of filters. It is known that My is primarily responsible for AFR in the revascularisation syndrome. The results are presented with an explanatory table, and compared with similar findings in a second experiment on adult rats.
