Various aspects of the interaction between metal matrix and ceramic reinforcing metal matrix and ceramic reinforcing material in long-fiber MMCs (Al-SiC), obtained with different production technologies, were examined. Long fibers of SiC (Nicalon) were used for the processes of infiltration of the liquid metal and plasma spray. For these processes, the Nicalon fibers were woven in the form of fabric, and were subjected to a pretreatment of surface activation in order to increase the wettability of the fibers by the liquid aluminum. Strands of performed fiber metallized with aluminum were used for the diffusion bonding process after various alloying elements had been deposited on the strands using electro-chemical procedures.
