Heart failure (HF) affects 1–2% of the population and is a major cause of death and disability, and several studies have been performed to identify factors associated with short-term mortality in hospitalised HF patients. Moreover, the occurrence of acute cardiovascular events exhibits a temporal periodicity, with peaks during winter months, morning hours, and on Mondays. This study was aimed to evaluate whether a temporal weekly pattern in HF hospitalization exists, and if weekdays (WD) or weekends (WE) admission may influence clinical outcome.

Abstract
Heart failure (HF) affects 1–2% of the population and is a major cause of death and disability, and several studies have been performed to identify factors associated with short-term mortality in hospitalised HF patients. Moreover, the occurrence of acute cardiovascular events exhibits a temporal periodicity, with peaks during winter months, morning hours, and on Mondays. This study was aimed to evaluate whether a temporal weekly pattern in HF hospitalization exists, and if weekdays (WD) or weekends (WE) admission may influence clinical outcome.File in questo prodotto:
