What people always remember of Umberto Baldini are the fundamental contributions he made to the history of art and the theory of restoration: here I have chosen to contribute my memory of Baldini the teacher, personally engaged in transmitting to the young not just the results of his studies, but also the depth of his scholarship, his curiosity as a researcher and his passionate enthusiasm. He taught at Ferrara from 2003 to 2006 in the graduate course in Technologies for the Cultural Heritage, devoting his efforts to inculcating an approach to restoration that is respectful of history in this new generation of scientific experts.
