Mesalamine, widely used in the treatment of chronic inflammatory bowel disease, has been associated in some patients with the development of acute pancreatitis. This possibility should always be considered and investigated in patients who complain of upper abdominal pain while being treated with mesalamine. We report here an association between oral use of mesalamine and acute pancreatitis in a 29-year-old woman who did not give her consent to be rechallenged.

Abstract
Mesalamine, widely used in the treatment of chronic inflammatory bowel disease, has been associated in some patients with the development of acute pancreatitis. This possibility should always be considered and investigated in patients who complain of upper abdominal pain while being treated with mesalamine. We report here an association between oral use of mesalamine and acute pancreatitis in a 29-year-old woman who did not give her consent to be rechallenged.File in questo prodotto:
