Cuticular cycles in embryos of Reticulitermes lucifugus are very similar to cuticular processes of hemimetabolous insect embryos. The first embryonic cuticle appears as a "membrane", the second one is characterized by an epicuticle and a "subepicuticular layer", the third one is tipically a "larval" one which consists of a straight linear epicuticle and a lamellar procuticle.
