A study on a consecutive series of 54 breast cancer patients was carried out in order to ascertain if the 5HT polimorphism and MAO coudl paly a role in favoring the onset of depression after diagnosis. Depressed aptients with SS polimorphism showed higher scores on HAD depression and Mini-MAC Anxious Preoccupation. Further research is needeed in order to understand the role of genetic polimorphism in depressed cancer patients.
