Background – Hepatitis C seroprevalence among pregnant women varies from 0.29 to 9 %. Higher prevalence is found in selected high-risk population. The rate of vertical transmission is highly variable from 0 to 40% (with higher values in HIV+ women). In Italy the risk is about 5%.
