In this paper a performance investigation of UDP and TCP in ad hoc networks is presented, by comparing the standard DSR routing algorithm, with a new algorithm implementation based on a distributed power control (DPC). The proposed approach tries to minimize the network power consumption in order to increase the network life time. To investigate the impact of DPC on the system, some UDP and TCP sessions has been simulated by using the network simulator 2, with different mobility scenarios.
