The Italian sites of land mammals fron Middle Pliocene onwards are numerous and their chronology is now well known. The subdivisions in Mammal Ages (Villafranchian, Galerian; Aurelian) and in Faunal Units (FU) furnish a detailed chronology. The Faunal Unit may be used for a limited bio-geographical area because the different spatial and temporal spreads of the species. The same Italia peninsula is subdividen in two mean areas, the Po river basin and the Adriatic band with influences of central and eastern Europe, and the Ligurian-Tyrrhenian band belonging to western Mediterranean region. The south of France is comprised in this region, so it is possible to find faunal affinities and compare French faunas with Italian ones.

Abstract
The south of France is comprised in this region, so it is possible to find faunal affinities and compare French faunas with Italian ones.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
