Some acetylenic derivatives and some compounds containing N, or S, or N and S, are tested as corrosion inhibitors on ASTM A106 plain steel and ASTM A335 type steels (1.5-10% Cr content) in 1.7 M HF solution at 45 °C. For both types of steels , the best corrosion inhibition results are obtained with organic compounds containing a S atom with available lone pairs. However, acetylenic derivatives exhibit fair inhibitive properties for ASTM A106 steel corrosion, while their action is not efficient towards the corrosion of low-alloyed chromium steels.
