The burial of Contrada Valle at Lipari -found in 2002 and hitherto unpublished- is one of the very rare Aeolian funerary contexts of the Milazzese facies. The tomb is presented with a general brief excursus on the Aeolian burials, an important testimony on rituals, social dynamics, landscape and demography. For the Neolithic and the Chalcolithic we have only single tombs whilst for the Bronze Age the main necropolises are at Lipari (contrada Diana, Piazza Monfalcone and Acropolis) and at Filicudi (Montagnola). Topographical considerations are possible at Lipari: the various necropolises are in the same area but in different locations. A demographic estimate of the whole pre-protohostoric human occupation of Lipari can be estimated to 30,000 individuals but the burials are only about a hundred. We are very far from the contexts, such as at Casinalbo, in which the richness of the funerary evidences represents a good percentage of the population.

Abstract
The burial of Contrada Valle at Lipari -found in 2002 and hitherto unpublished- is one of the very rare Aeolian funerary contexts of the Milazzese facies. Topographical considerations are possible at Lipari: the various necropolises are in the same area but in different locations. A demographic estimate of the whole pre-protohostoric human occupation of Lipari can be estimated to 30,000 individuals but the burials are only about a hundred.
