Current research in the area of cultural heritage increasingly focused on the topic of digital transformation, through the use of digital technologies for the enhancement, conservation and communication of historical, artistic, and architectural heritage. This increasing digital approach gives rise to the scientific need to develop innovative approaches to digital data management workflows to integrate and enrich 3D models with essential information for the professionals involved in conservation and restoration actions. The research, being carried out as PhD development, is focusing on the digitisation and data integration applied to contemporary artwork’s conservation. The proposed methodology combines the potential of survey technologies and conservation requirements to ensure an effective use of digital data for interpretation and restoration. The research project is moving towards the development of a set of tools and workflows aimed at making the best use of digital environments supporting conservators in data cataloguing and interoperability. The methodological framework is being experimentally applied to the Centre for Contemporary Sculpture in Cagli (Pesaro-Urbino, Italy), which houses works by different contemporary artists. The connection among architectural “container” and artworks opens up a reflection on the data required for documentation and the integrated survey technologies to be adopted, which must be able to capture not only the artwork, but also its context.
L'attuale ricerca nell'ambito dei beni culturali si interessa sempre più al tema della trasformazione digitale, attraverso l'uso di tecnologie digitali per la documentazione, la conservazione e la valorizzazione del patrimonio storico, artistico e architettonico. Questo crescente approccio digitale pone la necessità scientifica di sviluppare metodi innovativi di gestione dei dati e nuovi flussi di lavori per integrare e arricchire i modelli 3D con informazioni essenziali per i professionisti coinvolti nella conservazione e restauro. La ricerca, svolta nell’ambito del dottorato, si concentra sulla digitalizzazione e integrazione dei dati applicate alla conservazione dell’arte contemporanea. La metodologia proposta unisce le potenzialità delle tecnologie di rilievo con le esigenze conservative, per garantire un utilizzo effettivo dei dati digitali per l’interpretazione e il restauro. Il progetto di ricerca mira allo sviluppo di strumenti e flussi di lavoro per sfruttare al meglio gli ambienti digitali, facilitando la catalogazione e l’interoperabilità dei dati a supporto dei conservatori. La metodologia è in fase di sperimentazione al Centro di Scultura Contemporanea di Cagli (Pesaro-Urbino, Italia), che ospita opere di diversi artisti contemporanei. La connessione tra “contenitore” architettonico e opere d'arte apre una riflessione sui dati necessari alla documentazione e sulle tecnologie di rilievo integrato da adottare, capaci di restituire non solo l'opera, ma anche il suo contesto.
