This paper investigates the role played by Hegel within Jean Wahl’s metaphysical project, arguing that Wahl’s confrontation with Hegel cannot be reduced either to a merely historical interpretation or to an existentialist critique of system. Rather, Hegel constitutes a decisive structural reference for Wahl’s attempt to think together the irreducibility of singular existence and the demand for metaphysical unity.
