The use of biochar, which represents the solid by-product derived from pyrolysis and gasification, was extensively studied in cementitious composites in the last years; however, no study can be found in the literature that focuses on the structural performance of biochar-added concrete containing steel bar. This work aims to determine the influence of biochar addition on bond behaviour of concrete containing steel reinforcement uncorroded and subjected to different levels of corrosion, through pull-out tests. By comparing the obtained experimental results to those of a traditional concrete, some insights can be derived to evaluate possible uses of biochar-added concrete for structural purposes, in order to promote the sustainable transition of the cement industry without compromising safety, long-term performance, and durability.
