Abstract

Sargassum algae pose a growing environmental challenge along the Atlantic coast, particularly in the Caribbean and Equatorial Africa. This study presents the acoustic optimisation of modular sound-absorbing panels made from sun- -dried Sargassum algae. The methodology combines experimental characterisation of the material’s physical and acoustic properties as a function of apparent density with an analytical model to predict its acoustic performance. This research project contributes to the development of sustainable noise control solutions while addressing an urgent ecological issue.
