Since the XIV century, Porta Paola has served as one of the entry points from the south to the walled city of Ferrara. The recent restoration efforts undertaken on the structure aimed, among other objectives, to establish the Documentation Center on the Walls of Ferrara within its interior rooms. On the ground floor, a historical overview, presented through panels, has been curated to weave together the narrative of the walls, tracing their inception in the early XIV century to the extensive redevelopment project undertaken in the late XX century.
