The essay investigates the relationship between agriculture and industry in the field of production of artifacts, proposing a hypothesis that sees design as a mediating discipline between different manufacturing models. From a historical perspective, production processes and ideational activities related to the use of natural fibers lend themselves to a broader critical reflection on the future of raw materials intended for the production of products consumption. By re-establishing a link between materials, products and the identity of territories, the use of natural fibers in the field of design could contribute to reducing the growing dichotomy between countryside and city that accompanies the exponential growth of contemporary metropolises.

Abstract
The essay investigates the relationship between agriculture and industry in the field of production of artifacts, proposing a hypothesis that sees design as a mediating discipline between different manufacturing models. From a historical perspective, production processes and ideational activities related to the use of natural fibers lend themselves to a broader critical reflection on the future of raw materials intended for the production of products consumption. By re-establishing a link between materials, products and the identity of territories, the use of natural fibers in the field of design could contribute to reducing the growing dichotomy between countryside and city that accompanies the exponential growth of contemporary metropolises.I documenti in SFERA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
