This is the preface of the book of the new series Territories in transition. It deals with urban planning for earthquakes in Italy. It is focused on the direct author’s experience in consulting on urban planning issues with government institutions at various levels in the aftermath of the earthquakes which hit two Italian regions: Emilia-Romagna (North Italy) in 2012 and Marche (central Italy) in 2016.
