Charlotte Delbo, an intellectual actively involved in the French Resistance, was arrested along with her husband on March 2, 1942, and subsequently deported to Auschwitz on a convoy of 230 political prisoners. Her experience in the camp became the central focus of a comprehensive and intricate body of work, which, upon her return, established her as one of the most significant authors in the field of European concentration camp literature. This first Italian monograph on Charlotte Delbo aims to introduce an author still relatively unknown to our audience, offering a biographical profile through the integration of numerous archival documents, while simultaneously analyzing the themes and structures of her discourse, as well as the distinctiveness of her authorial voice, within a critical examination of her most significant works.
